Bio Overview:
Master Sergeant James W. Johnson Jr. (JJ) retired from the United States Air Force with honor, distinction, and an unwavering commitment to mission, people, and purpose. His last assignment was as Detachment 1 Flight Chief and Combat Flight Engineer with the 375th Operations Group, stationed at Will Rogers International Airport in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
In this elite position, MSgt. Johnson mentored a highly selective team of 25 officers and enlisted aircrew flying FAA CL-60 and King Air flight inspection aircraft. He provided critical advisement on health, morale, and welfare for DoD’s only combat flight inspection program, ensuring total readiness for national and international mobility operations, JCS exercises, and even Antarctic flight sustainment.
MSgt. Johnson also served as Course Developer and Lead Instructor for the Air Force’s only Prior Service Sister Service Enlistee Orientation Course. In 2005, he was stationed at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany as NCOIC of Hematology and Urinalysis Studies before making an unprecedented transition in 2010 to become a C-130 Flight Engineer with the 40th Airlift Squadron at Dyess AFB, TX.
During his distinguished career, he logged over 1,100 flight hours, including 553.8 hours in combat and 132.7 in combat support, with multiple deployments in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
Post-Service Leadership & Hemp Advocacy:
Following his retirement, JJ founded JJGRO Enterprises LLC, where he immersed himself in the emerging industrial hemp industry, supporting farmers across 27 states and educating fellow veterans on sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship.
As an outspoken advocate for veterans’ rights, JJ has helped countless service members navigate the VA system, optimize their benefits, and find renewed purpose through business ownership and plant-based wellness.
He is co-owner of Active Duty RX, a wellness brand focused on PTSD, anxiety, and depression relief through natural products. He has also played a pivotal role in Veterans Scientific Laboratories, providing consistent analytical testing for cannabis growers to ensure quality and transparency in a rapidly evolving field.
